"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Values

The following are the core values of Belong Community Church. These are the principles and character traits that we as a community strive to live out each and every day.

Jesus Saves

At Belong, we strive to share the hope of Jesus with everyone. We believe salvation is found in Jesus alone. We are Jesus people not religious people.

The Great Commission

We prioritize baptizing new believers into the faith while also Creating true disciples of Jesus Christ who then create more disciples. All for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

Belong Before You Believe

We are a community that says "There is a seat at the table for you". No matter your Church background, you are welcomed and loved here.

Church in A Different Way

Going through the motions is not our goal.  We aim to honor and respect the traditions of  The Church while also expressing worship to God In new fresh ways.

Servant Hearts

We admire and aspire to reflect the servanthood of Jesus in North Kansas City. We believe all people are worthy to be served! And if you're too big to serve, you're too small to lead.

Blessed To Be A Blessing

We believe it is more blessed to give than to receive. We live with open hands allowing God to use all things in our hands for His Kingdom's purposes.

Building Leaders

We aim to raise up leaders who example faith, love, purity, and a holy life. We believe that these qualities will lead to transformation in families, workplaces, and schools across North Kansas City.

Called to Honor

With our actions and words, we choose to intentionally honor one another. We are grateful for the spiritual leadership God has placed in our lives through our Pastors and leaders. We choose to live humbly and submit to the spiritual authority in our life.

Faith is Our First Response

God makes the impossible possible! We believe that He still does miracles! We see this through healings, prophesy, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Belong Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 3:16-17, 29:19; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 3:7-11; 1 John 5:7)

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On Earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for humanity and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on Earth. (Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1,14, 20:28; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5, 3:16)

The Bible

We believe The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the authoritative Word of God. It alone is the final authority for determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, the Bible is inspired, infallible and inerrant. (Proverbs 30:5; Romans 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

Salvation

We believe a person is saved by grace alone through personal faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human effort. We believe that this gift from God should lead us to a life of continual repentance from sin. Repentance is the commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Jesus Christ, thus allowing  us to become more like Him. (Romans 3:22, 10:9-10; Acts 3:19, 16:31; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Hebrews 9:22)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons within the one divine Trinity. The other two persons are God the Father and God the Son, Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is a person, rather than a depersonalized force.  And the Holy Spirit is the agent by which Christians transform and grow in holiness.  We believe that the Holy Spirit is still working in the world today touching hearts and changing lives. (2 Corinthians 3:18; John 1:12, 14:17, 15:4; Romans 8:11; Revelation 3:20)

Gifts of The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is brings glory to God through a variety of spiritual gifts that build and sanctify the Church. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Word of God and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters. (Romans 1-11, 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, 14:1-40; Ephesians  4:16; 1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:5-16; Hebrews 2:4; 1 Peter 4:10)

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Every person who is reborn of the Spirit is part of the universal church as a member of the body of believers and is encouraged by scripture to be planted in the local church. The Church is the representative of Jesus on earth and is to be built up for the works of ministry to carry out the Great Commission. (Psalm 92:12-15; Ephesians 1:22, 2:19-22; Hebrews 12:23; John 17:11, 20-23)

Communion

We believe in the power of Communion as a memorial to Jesus’ sacrifice of suffering and death on the cross that led to our salvation. We believe that when we take in The Lord’s Supper we are remembering and honoring this sacrifice in faith. (1 Corinthians 11:20-30, Matthew 26:26-29.)

Discipleship & Equipping for Ministry

We believe that God has called us to not only share the Gospel in hopes of creating converts but to also equip each and every active believer that is a part of our community for the work of the ministry and building of their faith. As a community, we are intentional about being disciples of Christ that seek growth and that create other disciples. (Ephesians 4:12-16, Matthew 28:19-20,Mark 16:15.)
