I wrote a couple years ago about God accomplishing the impossible-giving me a church that loved and respected for who I am. Churches in the past have ignored me or prayed constantly for my healing. A few years ago, I visited Belong Community Church and expected the same. Throughout my life, I’ve had thoughts like “Would anyone care if I wasn’t here? Probably not.” at various places, including the Church. Now, I know that I’m a valued member of this church and the Church. Belong is even working hard to make our new church handicapped accessible to me and others when I’ve felt like a second-class citizen most of my life. We aren’t accessible yet but working on it as today I got carried into worship on a couch. I felt like the man in that story was lowered through the roof to see and be healed by Jesus, as found throughout the Gospels. Come visit us in North Kansas City!
